We sold our home in the UK in early 2020, Andrea setting off for France with all our belongings and Russell to follow after a few days of finalising the move. Three days after Andrea arrived in France the pandemic lockdown was announced. And yes, Russell was still in the UK.
Sometime later… we moved into La Pommeraie in March 2021 and welcomed our first guests in July 2023.
We have done the vast majority of the renovation work ourselves working together as a team with much appreciated help from family, friends and new neighbours to transform an abandoned manoir into a guest house and events space. We live here with our 2 Lhasa Apso dogs Kevin and Dexter, who love meeting new people and are the self-assigned welcoming committee.
Our journey hasn’t been smooth, maybe that’s why it’s all the more rewarding when we welcome guests into our home and can share the fabulous surroundings and French life we have found here at Le Jardin. Our hard work is worth it when guests tell us “it’s the best shower I’ve ever seen” and “ I slept for nine hours in the wonderful bed, I haven’t slept that long for years”.
